Styling A Pink Kimono With A Polyvinyl Clutch Bag From Mame Kurogouchi
Hi everyone! I saw beautiful cherry blossoms around my home. Today's kimono is just pink like cherry blossoms, and I chose this chic obi (kimono belt) because this kimono is so lovely for me.
みなさま、こんにちは。東京では桜がとてもきれいです。今日の着物も、桜の色のように薄いピンク色。可愛くなりすぎないように、帯は有栖川文様の帯でシックにまとめました。
I had a photo shoot with my original tea cup, a hanging scroll with my illustration, and my first kimono book that was published 10 years ago. This clutch bag is from Mame which is a brand by Japanese designer. Can you see two crane in this bag? I styled a kimono with this bag in 2016, and you can see it here. This material is polyvinyl, so it is an affordable bag. You can get the same one or in a different color on Mame's official website. I would love a tote bag, too!
You have really nice deco in your home my dear! You look stunning in this kimono<3

ReplyDeletethis is so beautiful. I also love your outfit. Kisses!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou look so beautiful in this kimono. Gorgeous photo-shot, your home is so nice. I love to see cherry blossoms, it always means that the spring has arrived. So great that the cherry blossoms have inspired you to wear this dress. This pink kimono does make me think of cherry blossoms. The belt is wonderful as well. That clutch bag is a work of art, so delicate and lovely. The cranes motive is simply perfect.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! This is the most unique kind of art clutch I have ever seen.

Awesome article! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteI adore your fabulous home Akiko! It's so stylish and classic like you. I love how you put on a kimono. That pink kimono looks so pretty and that hand bag is so artistic! Glad you mentioned the crane, it looks so beautifully done. Cranes are important in Japanese culture right? I remember someone telling me about cranes in Japan.
ReplyDeletelove lots,

Thank you for your lovely comment, Tin!!
DeleteIn Japan, cranes are said to live long lives and mate for life, so they are considered symbols of good luck!

Pink kimono must be ideal for spring! i wonder how it looks next to trees in full bloom
ReplyDeleteOooh Akiko, I saw some of these pictures on your IG profile but seeing the blog post is even more beautiful! Love the vibes of your house... everything looks so artistic and cozy and is so cool to have a cherry blossom three around your place, I'm dying to see one! In Mexico we have a similar one called Jacaranda that was made from a Japanese seed similar to the cherry blossom :)
ReplyDeleteAnd your kimono is pure art, the photoshoot is so artistic you need to frame it or save it in a special place for visual inspiration!
