Purple Kimono At Kitazawa Hachiman Shrine

This year, cherry blossoms had been full bloom for about a week although cherry blossoms usually fall down sooner by rain. I had a photoshoot twice, and you can see another post here. I've never seen such gorgeous and massive cherry blossoms since I was a kid. The branch looked like a fishing rod when a fisherman catches a big fish!

I went to Kitazawa Hachiman Shrine near my house. The picture of a horse for the shrine is my painting. I write my wish. After it comes true, I will write my thanks. When it is great weather, we can see Mt. Fuji at the shrine! Unfortunately, I haven't seen it... If I can see it, I'll post it on my Instagram. This reversible obi (kimono belt) is made from two cloths, Nordic and African. This time, I showed the Nordic side. You can see the African side here. These elegant and cute purse and card case are a gift from my son's mother‐in‐law. These textile is called "Hakata-ori", which is so traditional in Japan. I think it is similar to some of Gucci's items, or Gucci's items are similar to "Hakata-ori". Anyway, I painted three fashion illustrations of mixing and matching of this kimono on "Akiko's kimonoism 10" which is my new website, and I translated only one article into English.

  6. Hey dear Akiko, as I told you on Instagram your kimonos are pure art and pieces that could be shown in exhibitions, and the way you put them with all the other accessories is just marvelous, and worn it in the right occasion and photographed in the perfect spot, definitely pure art.

I just checked your new Tumblr site for kimonos, it is so lovely mixed with the illustrations.... Will you still posting here or in both sites?

    BEST!
