Memento Mori and Photography Exhibition at The Tokyo Photographic Art Museum

Hi everyone! I hope you have lovely days! It has been a long time since I posted on Jun. Last month, Goro was not good because of the brutal heat. However, he got better and he could stay at home alone again for about three hours. He can't stand, and he cries many times a day. He looks like a baby, and I really love babies. Our vet told us, " Our grandparents, our pet, and all creatures return a baby. It reminded me of my father's last year. For that reason, I went to The Illumination of Life by Death" Memento Mori and Photography"Eexhibition at The Tokyo Photographic Art Museum with my family.

“Memento mori” is a Latin phrase, and it means “remember that you will die.” I often talk about it with my son, Anji. After seeing the exhibition, we talked about “Memento mori.” Anji knows about the Omaha Beach history, and I know about Robert Capa well. One of Capa's omaha beach photos is a “Memento mori” “Memento mori” is a Latin phrase, and it means “remember that you will die.” I often talk about it with my son, Anji. After seeing the exhibition, we talked about “Memento mori.” Anji knows about the Omaha Beach history, and I know about Robert Capa well. One of Capa's omaha beach photos is an important guide for us to feel “Memento mori” together. My grand son seemed scared. The following quote from the museum HP. " This year’s exhibition on the theme of memento mori presents around 150 photographs and related works that probe how people have lived resiliently in the face of death, seeding our imagination for how to move forward through difficult times." In my opinion, it is the best time for me to see it. Anyway, there are three huge and famous photos around the entrance, Shoji Ueda, Robert Capa, Robert Doisneau. I felt like that I got drawn into the photos. It was so Harry Potter.

Next, I would love to share a cute cafe's photos with you! To be honest, I wanted to show you special collaboration sweets for the exhibition. There were some people took it all after the exhibition in the museum cafe, so we looked for another cafe because my grandson is so active. At lasts, we found a cute cafe, Yellow Cakes! No one was there.

Both of the cafe's exterior and interior are yellow. There wereone of my favorite flowers, sunflowers. My grandson was moving to the cafe's electric music, and my son was feeding him cream puffs. It was a happy moment while Goro stayed at home.
Yellow Cakes

Anyway, I take turns to wear two summer kimono. One is Sha-tsumugi, another one is Akashi-chijimi. For example, I wore this kimono (Sha-tsumugi) this summer, so I will wear another one next summer. This white obi (kimono belt) looks like a white lace cloth. My kimono style is traditional kimono and obi with a few cahrming small items. This bag from Kate Spade and this Japanese fan from Pomellato are beautiful colors. They go well with this kimono, right?

My kimono style is featured in a famous kimono magazine next month. I am honered to be in the Kimono Salon Autumn issue. I would love to tell you one more information. I dedicate a Japanese dance to the god of a Kitazawa Hachiman Shrine on September 3rd. It starts 6:00 p.m. If you are in Tokyo, I hope you will see my dance. I will post these photos on my instagram stroies, and I will post a new article on this blog once a month. See you next post!!

  4. Hey Akiko, I hope you're doing well!

First of all I was super happy to see you back on the blog! Your blog is one of my favorites so I missed your content during these two months. I hope Goro is getting better, sending him my best wishes.

I think it is lovely that you decided to attend to the Memento Mori exhibition after living and reminding this situation with your beloved ones. I think death could be explored in many ways through art since it is a really complex topic. I like the way the photographies and the style of the exhibition featured this.

Then you managed to get some nice and tasty desserts! The pictures of your kimono are great and I like the obi you picked for the occassion, as well as the bag. They make a really interesting contrast with the fabric of the kimono *_*
